Charleston South Carolina is a coastal city almost perfectly centered halfway between the northern and southern borders of the state. Myrtle Beach is an hour north, Beafort an hour south, and Hilton Head about 90 minutes south of the city of Charleston. The entire region is known locally as "The Lowcountry".

History

1663

• King Charles II gives away Carolina, consisting of all the land from Virginia to Florida. The land is granted to eight Lords Proprietors.
• The government is formed for all of Carolina in Charleston.

1712

• North Carolina gets it's own government. North Carolina and South Carolina are now separate entities.

1719

• The crown buys back South Carolina from the absentee Lords Proprietors.

1999

• Cyber Sprocket founder, Lance Cleveland moves to Charleston SC.

2005

• Charleston Software Associates, now part of Cyber Sprocket Labs, is formed.

2006

• Lance Cleveland and Craig Coffman's paths converge at Charleston Digital Corridor
• Cyber Sprocket Labs is incorporated in the State of South Carolina.

2007

• Google announces plans to open data center near Charleston SC.
• Cyber Sprocket hires the first employees outside of the original founders.
