The corridor directory page shown in the first illustration will be a direct way to access data stored in the CDC information repository. Once fully implemented, other parts of the site will be catalogued in the same database, such as news articles and possibly even page content. This would serve the purpose of making all data available to the functions of the directory application - rating items for relevance, tagging, and saving to user favorites and 'playlists'.

The second illustration shows some of the more detailed features of the search tool. The extra options would be dictated by the search type. Directory searches afford the user a category selection, and some result limiting options. Google and site searches may include specifically image results, news results, etc. Ultimately, the directory application should handle all types of searches using Google's API, thus growing a vast cache of data in the directory database, which can be tagged, rated, and modified as needed.

Once the go button is clicked, the search box animates to a minimal view, and the default paragraph on the right is faded away. The right column then is filled with a result box for each match (up to a limit-per-page). These boxes are filled with item information asynchronously, creating a fluid and speedy UI.

When an item piques the interest of the visitor, they can click an item to view more information, which will animate the box to include the full summary, a map (if available), the first few reviews of the item, and potentially other useful information.
