Our Environment

Our programmers are self-admitted code junkies. They are people that go home and code just for fun. Many have built their own systems and written thousands of lines of code for school, work, and friends. Everyone likes to learn and continues to do so every day, learning and teaching is encouraged. Our employees are casual and like to have fun, but also pitch in and work hard whenever a deadline is on the horizon. We are more interested in working in a casual environment v. a corporate setting. We are excited to be doing what we love while working in a casual and creative working environment.

We are not just a consulting company.   We are a group of technophiles that are interested in creating new concepts and launching new startups.   In fact we are not only working on our own line of WordPress plugins and  mobile apps, but are also putting together the game plan for a big play in B2B streaming audio.  That last thing…. the streaming audio project… could be HUGE.   The few people that know about it are excited and we expect to be going for seed capital any day now to fund the development while we refine our venture pitch.

Junior/Senior Web Application Programmer

We are seeking a well-rounded programmer that has both the aptitude and attitude to get things done. As a Cyber Sprocket programmer, you will be working with us on several client projects in various languages including Python, Perl, PHP, and VB.net.

A majority of our projects are web based applications for our clients.  These are typically mid-to-large scale proprietary systems. We also have developed a series of our own web applications that we sell to the public including several successful premium WordPress and Joomla! plugins.

Requirements
Applicants are expected to have at least two years of solid professional experience and have worked on at least one production system, whether commercial release software or web applications. Senior Programmers are also required to have team leadership experience, having worked on at least one team project in the past. Database skills are mandatory for the Senior Programmer position, and highly advantageous for the Junior Programmer position.  Experience with a variety of IDEs, version control systems, programming methodologies, OOP, software development lifecycles, and project management tools is beneficial.

Mobile Apps Programmer

We are seeking a well-rounded programmer that has both the aptitude and attitude to get things done. As a Cyber Sprocket programmer, you will be working with us on several client projects in various on the IOS and Android mobile platforms.

Our mobile projects include extensions to existing web applications as well as mobile-only projects for our clients.  We are also in the midst of developing several of our own mobile apps that we will be publishing in the Apple App Store as well  as the Android Market.  Put your “signature” on our new mobile offerings and help define our up-and-coming mobile apps presence.

Requirements
Applicants are expected to have developed at least one fully functional mobile app.   Having an app that is active on the iPhone or Droid market is a plus.   A solid understanding of mobile user experience (UX) design is beneficial.   Familiarity with advanced mobile topics such as localized and remote data connections, GPS positioning, and hardware control such as camera control is also a plus.

In addition to mobile-specific expertise, you should have some experience with a variety of IDEs, version control systems, programming methodologies, OOP, software development lifecycles, and project management tools.   These are the tools-of-the-trade that allows us to work effectively as a team.   While not required it will reduce your “ramp up time” while getting “plugged in” to our team.

Web Application Programmer (Intern)

Cyber Sprocket is now offering a few intern-only positions for programmers looking to get a  head-start in their coding careers.   Our open and casual atmosphere is a great way to learn how to apply what you are doing in school to real-world scenarios in a low-pressure environment.   You will be working on projects alongside our development team while learning key team development and commercial business application programming skills.

Some of the skills you will learn while honing your programming skills include:

• Coordinating project tasks using project management tools.
• Learning the ins-and-outs of the git version control system.
• How to communicate effectively with your team and with clients.
• Creating well-documented, well-designed code that facilitates future maintenance.

In addition to refining these skills you will be working with a team of skilled programmers.   We learn from each other every day.   We keep up with technology and share our latest findings with the rest of the team.   We share tips, tricks, and secrets.   We all become better programmers, even those of us with 20+ years in the industry.
